We are building the software a housing society actually needs
SocietySetu is one app for everyone who lives in or works for a society — residents and their families, the managing committee, and the security and maintenance staff who keep it running.
- Residents & families
- Managing committee
- Security & maintenance staff
Our mission
One honest record of the society
To give every housing society a single record of itself — what was raised, who handled it, what it cost and what was decided — so that running a society stops depending on who remembers what, and living in one stops meaning chasing five different phone numbers.
Most societies already have the people and the process. What they do not have is one place to put it. That is the whole product.
- Complaints raised, assigned and closed with a visible status trail.
- Visitors pre-approved from a phone and logged at the gate.
- Maintenance jobs tracked to completion, not to a phone call.
- Dues raised against flats, visible to the flat that owes them.
- Notices, polls and suggestions that reach everyone at once.
- Facilities, events, clubs, marketplace and a resident directory.
What you can hold us to
We have no adoption figures to quote yet, and we are not going to borrow anyone else's. These four are true today and easy to check.

What a society pays
Free for societies. There is no tier above the one you are on, and nothing to cancel.
100%
Of the product, included
No locked tab, no upgrade prompt, no feature kept back to sell later.

Records sold or shared
Your society’s data is not the payment, and one society never sees another.
1
App for every role
Residents, the committee, security and maintenance staff all sign into the same society.
Four rules that decide what ships
Not posters on a wall — the four tests a feature has to pass before it goes in, and the reason several things on this site say “not built yet” instead of something friendlier.
Transparency
Every complaint, job, booking and due leaves a record with a status and a name against it. If the software cannot show what happened, it has not done its job.
Security
Access follows your role in your society and nothing else. Sign-in is tied to a verified mobile number, and the gate log is written as entries happen.
Innovation
We would rather ship one screen that a guard can actually use at 11pm than ten that demo well. What we build next comes from the societies using it.
Community
A society is neighbours, not just a billing cycle. Events, clubs, the marketplace and recommendations get the same care as the maintenance queue.
Principles you can check
Anyone can write a values page. These four are decisions the software makes for us, every time, whether or not anybody is watching.
Money is whole paise, everywhere
Every amount in the database is an integer number of paise. Rupees are a formatting decision made in the last line before the number is drawn, so a dues figure cannot drift by a rounding error between two screens.
amountPaise: IntA badge maps to a real check
Badges are not a column somebody can switch on. They are recomputed from verification records each time they are shown, and every badge carries the sentence describing what was checked — and what it explicitly does not mean.
no badges tableA removal is never silent
If something of yours is hidden or removed, you are told, you can read the reason, and you can appeal it. The moderator log is readable by the person it was applied to. The reporter is never named, in either direction.
moderation/actionsYou can take your data and go
Settings → Privacy & data downloads your profile, memberships, complaints, payments, bookings and suggestions as a JSON file, and deletes your account from the same screen. No support ticket, no retention call.
GET /users/me/export · DELETE /users/meWhere SocietySetu came from
SocietySetu started with an ordinary observation: most housing societies are run out of a WhatsApp group, a paper register at the gate and a spreadsheet on one committee member's laptop. It works, roughly — until the committee changes, or a complaint is raised twice, or nobody can say whether a flat has paid.
So we set out to build the boring, dependable version: one app where a resident raises a complaint and can see its status, a guard logs a visitor against the right flat, the treasurer knows what has come in, and the committee has a dashboard instead of a hundred unread messages. Mobile first, because that is where the work actually happens — in a lift, at a gate, on a walk around the block.
Where we are today
SocietySetu is new. The product is built and running, and we are onboarding our first societies now. We have no user numbers to quote, no client logos to display and no reviews to show, so this site does not pretend otherwise — you will not find a borrowed testimonial or a rounded-up figure anywhere on it.
What we do have is a working app and the time to set your society up on it properly.
If that sounds like a reasonable trade — an early product, and a direct line to the people building it — we would like to hear from your society.
